When we left off, Mo Ran, Chu Wanning, and Shi Mei had all gone out on Mo Ran's very first cultivator mission together. Awww. What could possibly go wrong?

Probably a lot, now that I think of it.

Content warnings: Once again, we are now in the thick of ghosts-and-corpses time. Caveat lector.

Chapter 11: This Venerable One Is Gonna Smooch! Rejoice! )
wistmanswords: a red fox in a sunbeam surrounded by green leafy shrubs (fox)

Last time on 2ha: Mo Ran caught Chu Wanning napping, acted like a teenage dork, and came up with a WOEFULLY unconvincing explanation for what he was doing. What's next for our boy? Who knows! Not him, that's for sure!

Content warnings: Reference to a kiss under the influence of sex pollen; reference to a miscarriage. Also, we are now at a point where The Ghost Stuff begins! That means from here on out there will be a blanket content warning that includes but is not limited to the following:

  • grief, loss, and trama
  • ghosts of people who died violently or by suicide
  • desecration of corpses
  • mild to moderate body horror
  • hell/the afterlife(s)
  • exorcisms and other rites
I'll still put specific warnings for anything really egregious - the words "corpse orgy" are apparently coming up soon, I'm not going to let you stumble into that one blind - but this kind of content is a cornerstone of the xianxia genre, and I have to assume that if you're interested in 2ha you're chill with it.

Chapter 10: This Venerable One Is Not An Actor )
wistmanswords: a tea cup next to a large glass jar full of chocolate chip cookies (jar)

We left Mo Ran in Chu Wanning's absolute nightmare disaster of an apartment, having been told to clean up, and feeling pretty peeved about this. Not only is it going to take all night, Mo Ran was supposed to get his bandages changed by Shi Mei! Mo Ran is under the impression having your crush change your bandages is a cute date activity and not gross, sticky, and medically necessary!

Content warnings: None, again... I don't trust this trend to last.

Chapter 9: This Venerable One Is Not An Actor )
wistmanswords: a blue door in a white wall, with an arbour of pink and purple flowers above it (door)

Quick recap: Mo Ran hates Chu Wanning and loves Shi Mei. I suspect there might be a switcheroo at some point, but this book is very long, so it might take a while coming. Also, Mo Ran got whipped, and not in a fun way.

Content warnings: N...none? Maybe? I'm so hesitant to say that, given the nature of the book, but I think we're good.

Chapter 8: This Venerable One Gets Punished )
wistmanswords: a river valley between mountains in norway (Default)

Previous | Index | Next

Last time, much to his surprise, Mo Ran's actions had consequences. He's been sentenced to punishment, and I do believe that is going to be the focus of this chapter.

Content warnings: Corporal punishment, injury.

Chapter 7: This Venerable One Likes Wontons )
wistmanswords: steep black rocky cliffs rising above a green field with a scattering of white snowdrifts (cliffs)

Last time on 2ha, Mo Ran was (correctly!) accused of lechery and theft, and though he managed to trick his accusers and his aunt, Xue Meng (correctly!) called him on his bullshit and busted him with the stolen goods. Now, Xue Meng wants to drag Mo Ran before a mysterious, unnamed ~someone else~ at Sisheng Peak, who won't coddle Mo Ran the way his uncle and aunt, the lord and lady of Sisheng Peak, would.

Content warnings: Violence.

Chapter 6: This Venerable One's Shizun )
wistmanswords: polished rose quartz stones with gold nordic runes on them (pink)

Previous | Index | Next

Last time on 2ha, we met Shi Mei properly, and then Xue Meng came back! Yay!

This time on 2ha, Mo Ran is lying in the title of the chapter. Goodness me, this isn't boding well.

Content warnings: Genre-typical whorephobic and homophobic attitudes.

Chapter 5: This Venerable One Did Not Steal )
wistmanswords: a rainbow in a blue sky above a green field with a scattering of oak trees covered in green spring leaves (trees)

Previous | Index | Next

We are four chapters in and:

  • Still haven't met the white cat shizun
  • Still don't know why Mo Ran is so upset
  • Still no actual huskies!
I guess we better keep going.

Content warnings: For the first time to date, possibly none? Some mild genre-typical misogyny (using "princess" as an insult), but no one even mentions boiling a baby.

Chapter 4: This Venerable One's Cousin )
wistmanswords: a rainbow in a blue sky above a green field with a scattering of oak trees covered in green spring leaves (rainbow)

Previous | Index | Next

When we last left off, Mo Ran had died, been reborn as his 16-year-old self, and behaved appallingly towards a sex worker his teenage self was fond of, who hasn't done anything yet, but who betrayed adult!Mo Ran in the future, maybe. Transmigration: it's complicated!

Content warnings: Gore, violence against children.
