Where were we?

This Venerable One fucking died. How about that for a nightmare.

Oh, right.

Content warnings: Underage sex, dubious sexual consent, genre typical depiction of sex workers.

What happens: Mo Ran hears a female voice reciting something poetic, and shouts for his servants to kick whoever woke him up off the mountain, only to remember that he died, and shouldn't be hearing anything just now. He opens his eyes and discovers that (a) he is not dead; (b) he is in a brothel he remembers from his youth; (c) he is fifteen or sixteen years old; and (d) he is in bed with a sex worker named Rong Jiu.

Thus, the once cruel ruler of the cultivation world, Evil Tyrant of Bashu, Emperor of the Mortal Realm, Lord of Sisheng Peak, Taxian-Jun Mo Ran himself, after much consideration, expressed his thoughts honestly.

"Fuck..."

He deduces, from the rope bondage on Rong Jiu's thighs, that they must have been intimate the night before. Mo Ran is pissed at Rong Jiu for something that happened while he was emperor, and also pretty confused - last thing he knew, Rong Jiu had been dead for several years - but he also knows it's probably going to look pretty weird if he slaps the pretty boy he's been having a good time with. Rong Jiu assumes Mo Ran slept badly and goes to get him some breakfast. When he gets back, Mo Ran declines breakfast in favour of having sex, and Rong Jiu falls asleep afterwards.

Mo Ran briefly contemplates cutting up Rong Jiu's face and ruining his career, but then he remembers that Rong Jiu hasn't actually done anything wrong yet.

He had done so much evil that it had become habitual. He even forgot that he had been reborn.

Right now, everything had yet to happen, the irrevocable mistakes had not yet been committed, and that person... still lived. There was no need to walk the same cruel path; he could do it over.

With that in mind, Mo Ran sits down and eats what honestly sounds like a pretty excellent breakfast.

But Mo Ran is still kind of a bastard, so he steals all of Rong Jiu's jewels and valuables, to which I can only say: what the fuck, Mo Ran? Not cool!

• Rong Jiu. Sex worker that Mo Ran used to like, until an unspecified betrayal occurred. Didn't deserve to have his stuff stolen, should absolutely betray Mo Ran again. Fuck you, Mo Ran.

• Mo Ran's uncle, the Sisheng Peak Lord, who discovered his long-lost nephew and brought him to Sisheng
• Mo Ran's aunt, presumably his uncle's spouse
• Mo Ran's shige, who Mo Ran seems to be extremely into

It's also worth noting here that Xue Meng appears to be Mo Ran's cousin in addition to his martial brother. So that's interesting.
